Google Review for Louie 🍷🍽️
Name: Louie
Address: 706 De Mun Ave, Clayton, MO 63105
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "Great"
Louie in Clayton is a symphony of culinary excellence and relaxed elegance. 🌟
Rating Reflection: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Louie offers a rare blend of high-quality food and wine, set in a comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere. It's a must-visit for a genuine fine-dining experience in St. Louis.
Ambiance and Decor: 🎨🔥
The restaurant features a mesmerizing pizza oven, a spectacle in its own right, nestled near the bar. The wine shelves above the bar are equally captivating. The decor is thoughtfully dim and romantic, with eclectic skulls and plates that add a unique flair without feeling out of place.
Service That Impresses: 🙋♂️💬
From Raquelle, our hostess, to Melanie, our waitress, the service was attentive but never intrusive. It's what you'd expect from a place of Louie's caliber – professional yet down-to-earth, focused on delivering the best possible dining experience.
A Culinary Journey: 🍽️🐟🍪
Here's a pro-tip: Save room for dessert. The starters, like the cheesy Brussels Sprouts, set the stage, but the specials like the perfectly cooked halibut over a quinoa salad with squash are the showstoppers. The dessert – a set of six cookies in three varieties (lemon rosemary shortbread, salted chocolate, and ginger-molasses), paired with an Americano – was the perfect endnote to a delightful culinary journey.
In Retrospect: 🤔
Louie is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that marries top-tier culinary art with a warm, welcoming ambiance. From start to finish, every aspect of the meal was thoughtfully curated.
Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "Great"
"Louie: Where Every Bite Is a Celebration, Every Moment a Memory."
A visit to Louie is an exploration of flavors and an indulgence in the joy of dining. Whether it's for the entrees, the impeccable service, or the unmissable desserts, Louie is a culinary gem in Clayton. 🍴🌟🍪
We had dinner at Louie and the food was amazing!! Really good and great potion size. Service was super friendly and we definitely would come back!
Only „negative“ aspect: the tables are close together so it is extremely noisy/ loud when the restaurant is fully booked and it’s hard to follow a conversation.
I hate writing about Louie because it’s already SUPER hard to get into. It’s by far one of my top 5 restaurants in St. Louis.
The drinks are amazing. The food is amazing. The vibe is amazing. The servers are amazing.
I’ve had pretty much everything on the menu and it’s all great. You literally cannot go wrong ordering anything on the menu. If I had to pick favorites, the Italian Salad and Prosciutto di Parma are my go-to starters (and during the summer, my favorite staple at Louie is the prosciutto with fresh peaches (it’s a MUST order)), the Margherita pizza is quite tasty (with perfect dough), and the Pappardelle Bolognese, the Grilled Beef Tenderloin, and the Mussels are the stand out mains.
Possibly my new favorite spot in St. Louis. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is that of a popular neighborhood restaurant. I was impressed by the quality of the food and wine at a very reasonable price. Definitely get a reservation before going.
Hands down, one of my favorite restaurants! The ambiance and decor is on par. Warm and comforting space to spend time with friends and fabulous food. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here. The roasted chicken is a favorite of mine. Tonight my girlfriend and I ordered two different specials and shared. We had sweet potato ravioli…heaven! And Halibut over farro. Also, delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive. Cannot wait to go back!
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Those things may be Maria's favorite things, but me they are; Manhattans, Brussels Sprouts, a pork chop and a Old Fashioned and I can get them all at Louie.
When I find all of my favorite things, on a menu it makes it easy for me to order. I got my night started with an Old Fashioned and Brussels Sprouts. They were both masterfully prepared, so I knew what was coming next would be equally as good. I was right, their Pork Chop with shishito peppers was superb. I love charred shishito peppers, they are so irresistible. My chop was grilled to perfection and was so juicy and tender. The Manhattan was smooth and accompanied the chop as well as a glass wine.
Being a lone diner, I don't mind sitting at the bar. The night of my visit I was seated at the far-end, so I got to watch them use the pizza oven. It was like a floor show, while I dined. I may have been seated at the bar, but the service was still attentive and friendly.
Louie is one of the culinary jewels of St. Louis.
Louie is worth the wait for a reservation. The Roast Chicken was delicious and masterfully done. The burrata was very good, and the house made breads are delicious as well. The cocktails were also very on point. To top it off, the manager at the bar was very social and electric which made for a good experience. Would highly recommend.
